Yevgeni Shkuratov

Yevgeni joined Longton Legal in 2022. He has practiced as a solicitor specialising in plaintiff medical negligence compensation claims since his admission to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2011.

Following his completion of studies at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, Yevgeni was admitted to the High Court of New Zealand at the age of 23, and relocated to Sydney, where his passion for the law developed.

Yevgeni always has a strong desire to help people receive justice after they have been let down by the medical profession. This passion developed into a successful career.

As an experienced medical negligence litigator, Yevgeni understands that there is nothing more important than ensuring clients and their needs come first. He takes great pride in making sure our clients are at the forefront of everything he does.

In acting for plaintiffs, Yevgeni’s aim is to achieve the best result possible for his clients and working out a way forward through a rational and dignified resolution of the dispute.

He likes to apply careful and thorough preparation to each medical negligence claim, no matter how big or small, to achieve a proper understanding of not the just the issues in dispute between the parties but the expectations of his clients. In doing so, he likes to keep his clients fully informed to ensure their ongoing understanding and involvement in their claim.

Yevgeni has been involved in a number of leading and complex medical negligence cases in the District Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal in New South Wales, as well as in Australian Capital Territory and Victoria, involving claimants who suffered catastrophic injuries at the hands of medical professionals.

Since the commencement of his career and before joining Longton Legal, Yevgeni worked for some of Australia’s largest plaintiff personal injury firms where he held and still holds numerous records as for the amount of compensation recovered for his clients and numerous records for largest claim settlements ever achieved within the firm.

In 2020, Yevgeni was recognised as one of Injury & Compensation Law rising stars by the Doyles Guide for his work and expertise in the area. One of his most memorable successes was being involved in a claim involving a catastrophically injured baby which resolved out of court and is considered as one of the biggest ever medical negligence settlements in New South Wales, if not Australia.

Yevgeni is able to relate with empathy to people from all walks of life. Born in Ukraine, and having grown up in New Zealand, he is fluent in English, Ukrainian and Russian, and is always happy to utilise these skills in order to assist clients from similar backgrounds and all walks of life.
