Jenny Xu

Jenny has extensive expertise defending a wide range of criminal offences, including murder, serious sexual offences, large scale drug cases, white collar crime and proceeds of crime, fraud, money laundering, robbery and assault. In addition, she has extensive experience researching legal issues, drafting and arguing complex motions to suppress, dismiss, and vacate. In preparing clients for depositions, she ascertains key objectives of case strategy, soliciting information from witnesses and key experts that support the client’s position.

Prior to joining Longton Blackwell, Jenny has gained a wealth of experience in the Criminal Law industry including work as a clerk at the Magistrates Court of South Australia, Shanghai’s Intermediate People’s court in China, worked as a volunteer lawyer at Redfern Legal Centre and worked as a Criminal Defence Lawyer at some of New South Wales’s leading criminal law firms.

Jenny has exceptional experience in Corporate and Commercial in both Civil and Criminal jurisdictions. Recently, Jenny represented a high profile client in a Money Laundering matter listed at the Supreme Court of New South Wales. The Australian Federal Police commenced proceedings against her client, seeking a cash freezing order and order to be forfeited to the Commonwealth. The successful application resulted in the exclusion of cash from the operation of a restraining order.

In additional to her work as a Criminal Defence Lawyer, Jenny appears regularly on SBS radio as a guest to be interviewed and answer inquiries from audience members. She provides the radio audience with succinct and relatable advice to assist them in a wide range of law matters.

Whatever the allegation, Jenny identifies the issues swiftly and ensures cases are thoroughly prepared with effective representations made to the police and persecuting authorities throughout the proceedings.
