What To Do If You Are Arrested and/or Fined?

The NSW Government have announced tougher restrictions across Sydney, which will take effect from 5pm on Friday, 9 July 2021. These are:

· Outdoor public gatherings limited to two people (excluding members of the same household)

· Travel restrictions limited to within your Local Government Area or within 10km of home

· Only one person per household, per day may leave home for shopping

· No carpooling between non household members

· Browsing in shops is prohibited

· No visitors outside your household

· Funerals are limited to 10 people in total (taking effect from 11 July 2021)

The four reasons to leave your home are:

· Shopping for food or other essential goods and services (one person only)

· Medical care or compassionate needs

· Exercise with no more than two people (unless members of the same household)

· Essential work or education where you cannot work or study from home

Under the Public Health Act 2010 (NSW), Police have increased patrolling around south-west Sydney to ensure strict compliance. Police have the power to fine or arrest individuals for several reasons including failure to wear a mask, failing to provide ID and other reasons.
